EcoCheckers: Citizens in action for environmental justice

The project aims to strengthen transparency, participation, and accountability in environmental governance in Greece. Through the development of tools, educational activities, and a digital platform, it will empower citizens to monitor and evaluate environmental policies and projects. At the same time, it will create a network of active citizens (“Ecocheckers”) and promote public discussion on citizen participation in environmental decision-making.

The project “EcoCheckers: Citizens in action for environmental justice” is implemented within the framework of the PLATO programme, with Organization Earth as the implementing body and Pindos Environmental as a partner. The programme “Protecting Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of Law through an Open Civic Space” (PLATO) aims to strengthen the protection of the European Union’s fundamental rights and values, as well as to raise awareness of them. This is achieved through supporting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Greece and Cyprus that are active in these fields, and by enhancing their knowledge, capacities, and long-term sustainability. PLATO is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the Bodossaki Foundation, and the NGO Support Centre, with a total grant amounting to €3.1 million. The PLATO programme is coordinated by the Bodossaki Foundation (Greece) in partnership with the NGO Support Centre (Cyprus).
