The Chamois II project is a continuation of the project “Chamois: Enhancing Balkan Chamois Connectivity in Northwestern Greece,” implemented during the period 2023–2025. Its main objective is to safeguard the connectivity and long-term viability of Balkan chamois populations.
The project contributes to the conservation of a functional transboundary mountain landscape, where chamois and other wildlife species can move freely, adapt to the impacts of climate change, and maintain their ecological role within healthy forest and alpine ecosystems.
To achieve its central objective, Chamois II focuses on the following actions:
By combining scientific monitoring, habitat and ecological corridor mapping, pressure assessment, active stakeholder participation, youth and citizen engagement, as well as transboundary cooperation, the Chamois II project lays the foundations for the long-term preservation of ecological connectivity and the resilience of the species beyond the duration of the funding period.
